Flat strip heaters of mica, also called flat mica heaters, can be used in many ways in all types of contact heating. This heating technique is often used for forming plastics, packing machines, vacuum packing, press platens, anti-condensation solutions and extruders.
A flat strip heater has the same construction as a mica band heater. In the middle of the heater a resistance wire is wound on a mica sheet, insulated on both sides by another mica sheet. The flat strip heater is protected by a heat resistant stainless steel sheath and will be provided with custom connections.
The flat mica heaters can be designed to forms and machines with holes, slots, fasteners and built in sensors or thermocouples for accurate heat control.
IHP has the possibility to construct frames of flat strip heaters as a custom unit, called mica frame heaters.
